When is the best time to hike Kilimanjaro?
Table of contents
Introduction
The best time to hike Kilimanjaro is during the dry seasons, which are from January to mid-March and from June to October. These periods offer more stable weather conditions and less chance of rain, which makes the trekking experience more pleasant and safer.
January to mid-March:
This is a warmer period on Kilimanjaro with lower crowds and clearer views. It’s a great time to hike, particularly for those who prefer warmer weather.
June to October:
This is the busiest time on Kilimanjaro, as it coincides with the dry season. The weather is relatively cool, and there is little rain, making it an ideal time for trekking.
Avoid hiking during the rainy seasons, which are typically from late March to May (long rains) and November to early December (short rains). These periods can bring muddy and slippery trails, clouded views, and less enjoyable hiking experiences.
